WHAT IS SLACK WAX?
Slack Wax is one of the leftovers from the transformation of Lubricant into Base Oil. As a consequence of this procedure, a solvent is used to first separate the aromatic compounds from the Lubcat; the end result is raffinate. In the next stage, base oil is created by separating the paraffinic components from the raffinate. A byproduct known as slack wax is created in this process and is used to create paraffin.
During the manufacture of raw materials, solvent extraction methods and raffinate end product are employed to remove aromatics. The percentage of oil can range from 5% to 30%. Following that, the raffinate is diluted with a solvent, such as Methyl Ethyl Ketone (Mek), to lessen its viscosity and decrease its treatability at low temperatures. The diluted oil is then cooled to a temperature between -10 and -20 degrees Celsius. Filtration is used to remove wax crystals; this extracted wax is known as slack wax and is the raw material for paraffin. It is yellow or brown in hue. It undergoes processing by pressing to lower the oil content and through color modification using bleaching powders to create paraffin.
The Petronaft Co.’s slack wax is used in a variety of products, including emulsions, matches, candles, inks, carbon paper, and more. In the creation of several industrial goods, it can also serve as blending ingredients or waterproofing agents. (It will be thoroughly discussed in the uses section.)
The price of this product is inversely correlated with the amount of oil it contains. Depending on its melting point, slack wax is graded from light to heavy. Their oil content varies from 5% to as much as 30%, and their melting points vary from 50 to 52 °C for light grades and 53 to 55 °C for heavy grades. The price of the slack wax decreases with increasing oil content. For chilly climates like Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine, oil contents of 10% and 30% are appropriate.
We use very sensitive controls on every technological component of the Slack Wax we provide. The controlling process is seen as being the most significant aspect of work. These monitoring procedures are very precise and complicated. We are fully aware of the significance of the filtering stage. As a result, using high-tech tools, a high degree of accuracy is achieved at this stage. Pure and with a precise melting temperature, Petronaft’s Slack Wax is made. There is no indication that anything is decaying or fainting while melting.
Petronaft provides Slack Wax of the best quality in a variety of types and grades and exports them from Iran, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates to other nations worldwide.

Understanding Slack Wax: A Byproduct of Raw Refinery
One of the oil refining process’s by-products, slack wax has several industrial uses. You can have been aware that oil refining produces a significant number of petrochemicals. It is a byproduct of the raw refinery and a precursor to scale wax and paraffin wax. It is primarily utilized as a main ingredient in processes that provide various grades of paraffin. All of the different grades of slack wax somehow meet the same specifications. Its hue is naturally dark and its viscosity is high.
The refinement procedure of this product divides slack wax into two types: heavy and light. Fully refined paraffin wax is mostly made from light slack wax. The food and cosmetics sectors can benefit from fully refined paraffin. The conversion of heavy slack wax into semi-refined paraffin wax. Heavy Slack Wax, in contrast to the first, is only appropriate for unsanitary applications such as making candles, glue, ink, and rubbers.
SLACK WAX PROPERTIES
If you are familiar with the characteristics of slack wax, you will have the capacity to identify the industries that make use of it.
The significance of the lubrication process in each and every business is common knowledge at this point. By lubricating, you can limit the amount of heat that is created by motion. Heat will be generated whenever one surface is pulled to another, and this is a very dangerous situation. The increased heat causes the movement to become more sluggish. Therefore, the lubricating procedure is going to be our remedy for this particular scenario.
Insulation against heat transfer
Insulating against heat is another function that can be performed by slack wax. This is quite helpful for the textile industry as well as several other sectors. It is possible to apply a coating of slack wax to every surface in order to stop the flow of heat.
Insulation from electricity
Because of its qualities, slack wax provides electrical insulation, which is beneficial to the electrical sector. In this stage of the material’s development, the electrical insulator offers many different potentials uses. For instance, you can protect the whole of the system from any potential hazards by covering the boards and surfaces of electrical circuits with slack wax.
Melting without breaking down
The fact that it melts without undergoing any kind of chemical change makes it useful for a variety of industrial applications.
When Slack Wax is applied to a surface or a hole, it creates a barrier that prevents the target from becoming wet. Due of its monomolecular structure, Slack Wax has this particular quality. Slack Wax is often thought of as a barrier that prevents the intrusion of water.
The lack of density
This enables you to add a significant quantity of Slack Wax to the system without incurring any additional weight-related concerns. Generally speaking, the term “light material” refers to a substance that has a low density. In manufacturing, it would be helpful to have lightweight materials with high efficiency.
SLACK WAX USES
It is widely used in industries. Many businesses use Slack Wax as a fundamental material, as you can imagine.
Paraffin Manufacturing, slack wax is transformed into paraffin wax as a precursor. It can be more valuable in this state.
- The textile industry also needs Slack Wax. Slack Wax and paraffin wax are advised for thermal insulation and safeguarding certain fabrics with specialized uses. Textile coating is done using Slack Wax. This coating is required to protect fabric, which is required for certain applications. In reality, Slack Wax is an excellent substance for insulating against heat and cold.
- Used in the insulation and glass wool industries.
- Used in the production of a variety of industrial items such as candles, polish, matches, ink, and carbon paper.
- Used in exterior applications such as dust dispersers or controlled release agents in chemical fertilizers.
- It is also utilized in paraffin emulsions.
SLACK WAX PACKING
Slack wax is packed in bags for lower oil grades (5% to 15%), but for higher oil contents like light slack wax (30%), the only packing is steel drums, ISO tanks, or flexitanks to avoid leakage.
