OXIDIZED BITUMEN 90/15
Description of OXIDIZED BITUMEN 90/15
A type of bitumen called oxidized bitumen 90/15 is made by blowing air over pure bitumen (penetration bitumen 60/70). Blown bitumen 90/15 (blown asphalt 90/15) is another name for it. The penetration grade of oxidized bitumen 90-15 is significantly lower than that of conventional bitumen, and its softening point is significantly higher than that of conventional bitumen. Because of the ability of the asphaltene in this bitumen to polymerize when exposed to airflow, the bitumen gains the property of being stretchy. Rubberized bitumen is the name given to this type of bitumen, and the letter R is used to denote that it has properties resembling those of rubber.
These figures show the depth of penetration as well as the point at which the substance starts to soften. For instance, oxidized bitumen R90/15 indicates that this specific bitumen has a penetrability grade of 15 and a softening point of 90.
We manufacture the highest quality Oxidized Bitumen 90/15 ( Blown Asphalt 90/15 ) in different types and export them from Iran and the UAE to other countries around the world.

OXIDIZED BITUMEN 90/15 PRODUCTION PROCESS:
In order to make oxidized bitumen 90/15, the refinery’s BBU reactor must first expose penetration-grade bitumen to hot air at a temperature between 220 and 230 degrees Celsius. The reactor can only create oxidised bitumen 90/15 at that point. This necessitates that the refinery maintains a consistent temperature between 220 and 230 degrees Celsius. The heated air induces the reaction that occurs within the reactor between the hydrogen atoms of the bitumen and the oxygen atoms of the air.
This reaction is caused by the contact between the bitumen and the air. It then begins to create steam, which, once produced, must be evacuated from the oxidation chamber in order for the reactor to continue functioning normally. This directly contributes to the occurrence of blown bitumen.
OXIDIZED BITUMEN 90/15 ADVANTAGES:
There are a number of advantages associated with the use of oxidized bitumen 90/15, some of the most significant of which are below:
Complete resistance to the corrosive effects of water; Extreme malleability; Chemical inertness; Extremely long-lasting durability.

Applications of OXIDIZED BITUMEN 90/15
Road construction and the creation of hydropower plants are only two examples of the many uses for oxidized bitumen 90/15. In addition, it has uses in the oil and gas sector, electrical applications, flooring, mastics, and roofing.
- Roads: Oxidized bitumen 90.15 is useful for paving existing roads, building new ones, and performing routine maintenance on them. It can be used as an addition to asphalt, which is subsequently used to pave roads, highways, railroad tracks, and parking lots. To do this, adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- The material that must be utilized for the canal lining in hydro projects is blown bitumen 90/15. This specific kind of bitumen may be used in a broad range of extra hydro projects, such as the building of embankments and dams, hydraulic structures, the protection of dam linings, and the stabilization of sand.
- Roofing: The production of roofing felts, shingle roofs, damp-proof coating compositions, carriage roofing compounds, liquid roof coatings, and plastic cements all require blown asphalt 90-15. The creation of liquid roof coverings also makes use of it. In addition, it is used in materials for carriage roofs. It is typically the most efficient technique for waterproofing roofs.
- Flooring: One of the most frequent uses of bitumen oxidized 90/15 is the installation of flooring. It is also possible to use acid- and alkali-resistant bitumen mastic, which can be applied to the surfaces of facilities such as chemical plants, fertilizer plants, steel factories, and other types of facilities, to prevent corrosion. Additionally, parquet flooring may be repaired using this technique.
- The oil and gas sector typically uses oxidized bitumen 90-15 as an extra layer of corrosion and rust prevention for pipelines.
- Bitumen 90/15 is used to make laminated boards that are used in the electrical sector. This glue is extensively used in the electrical industry. The lids of electrical connection boxes may be fastened using it. It is used not only in the creation of lithium-ion batteries and wires, but also in the fabrication of cables.
